The Night Before Christmas is a book I didn’t grow up with, but heard recently… here’s my version of the morning after Christmas, based on that! 🙂
It was the day after Christmas and all though the house,
Not a person was stirring, not anywhere in the house
The plates and cookies are strewn without care,
In hopes that a maid would suddenly appear.
The humans were snug, exhausted in their beds,
While visions of clean kitchens danced in their heads.
And Mama in her dreams and Papa in his thoughts
About to be awakened, whether they like it or not!
All the family is gone, who caused such a clatter,
We spring from our beds with joyful laughter,
Away to the living room, we flew with a flash,
Yet a little bit of sadness fell like a sash.
We sprang from our spots, life must go on,
And so it did, yet the memories live on.
…so there you go, that’s my very lame attempt at poetry! Not sure what your house looks like today, but I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and have a happy New Year to come!
